Polish apples reaching a greater number of destinations
Last season, there was a significant increase in the number of export destinations for Polish apples. Eurostat data shows that in the 2014/2015 season Polish apples were exported to 80 countries, while a year earlier they only reached 59 countries, report analysts of BGZ BNP Paribas.
It is worth noting that in 68 of these destinations (78 percent) there was an increase in the volume of exports, while drops were registered in the other 19 cases. The drop was particularly severe in Russia and, to a great extent, in European Union countries.
Some completely new markets (where exports in the 2013/2014 season amounted to 0 tonnes) received just over 3 thousand tonnes of Polish apples. Sales in these new countries, mostly in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, were thus strongly fragmented. In 65 percent of cases, exports to these new destinations did not exceed 100 tonnes.
